The Signature component lets someone sign a form using their mouse, trackpad, or finger (on touch devices) — useful for approvals, waivers, delivery confirmations, and any place you need a captured signature on record.
The problem: a checkbox or typed name is easy to dispute later — "I never agreed to that" is a hard conversation to win without something more concrete.
In practice: the person draws their actual signature on the pad, and the field confirms it was captured:

The value: the approval is now backed by an artifact — a drawn signature — that reads as a genuine signoff, not just a form checkbox someone clicked through.
Adding a Signature field
- Open your form in Form Studio.
- In the component panel, find Signature under Input.
- Drag it onto the canvas, or click it to add it to the end of the page.
- Click the field to open its settings.
Configuring the field
Content
- Label – the instruction shown above the signature pad (defaults to "Signature").
- Default Value – lets you pre-fill a captured signature from elsewhere (for example, a signature captured earlier in the same workflow), by binding it to existing data.
- Required – the form can't be submitted until a signature has been drawn.
- View only – shows a previously-captured signature without allowing changes. This is useful further down a workflow, once a signature has already been collected, and someone just needs to see proof it happened. Note: Required + View only together means the field checks that a signature already exists upstream, not that the viewer draws a new one.
Display & Style
- Helper text – small instructional text under the label (e.g. "Sign using your finger or pointer").
- Canvas height – choose from Compact, Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large, depending on how much drawing room you want to give.
- Agreement text – optional legal/consent copy shown near the signature pad (e.g. "By signing above, I agree to the terms and conditions").
Conditional Disable / Visibility
- Like most Form Studio fields, you can disable or hide the Signature field based on conditions elsewhere in the form (for example, only show it once a checkbox for "I agree to sign" is checked).
What the person filling out the form sees
- A blank canvas they draw their signature onto.
- A way to clear and re-draw if they make a mistake.
- If Required is on, submission is blocked until something has been drawn.
Tips
- Use Agreement text rather than a separate text block if the signature is meant to confirm a specific statement — it keeps the acknowledgment visually tied to the signature itself.
- If the same signature needs to show up read-only later in the process (e.g. on a summary or approval screen), bind that later field's Default Value to the original signature and turn on View only rather than asking the person to sign twice.
