MergePoint offers two primary ways to interact with your connected data:
Use Search when you want to browse content directly.
This functions like a traditional enterprise search—enter a query, and view matched documents, emails, workflow outputs, or structured records. Ideal for:
Scanning through reports
Finding exact documents or past emails
Reviewing filtered results across collections
Use Chat when you want conversational answers.
The Chat Interface runs queries against your company’s Knowledge Base using a large language model (LLM) and structured retrieval logic. Two chat modes are available:
Company Knowledge
Responses are generated using the LLM + your connected data sources (files, emails, Salesforce records, etc.)—but only those you have access to. Results include citations from the underlying source material.
World Knowledge (if enabled)
Responses are based on general world data from the LLM, with optional web search support. This mode is best for public info, definitions, or non-company-specific questions.
Admins can choose whether World Knowledge and Web Search are available.
Access is scoped to your permissions across systems like Google Drive, Notion, Slack, and Salesforce
Search relevance adapts based on documents you've previously opened or collaborated on
Responses vary depending on chat history and selected chat mode
If your coworker has different permissions, they may receive different responses for the same query
You can influence which documents are prioritized in responses:
Verify key documents in a collection to boost retrieval weight
Organize sources into collections to streamline retrieval
Restrict or expand access in the original source system (e.g., Google Drive or Notion) to change visibility
Changes in access permissions are reflected in MergePoint almost immediately.
