A task form doesn't have to be finished in one sitting, and a bad connection shouldn't mean lost work either. MergePoint holds unfinished submissions as Drafts so you can pick them back up exactly where you left off.
1. Save a form in progress
While filling out a task form, click Save Draft in the footer at any point — you don't need to complete every field first. Your entered values are saved immediately, and you can safely leave the form.
- Drafts are saved per form, so a form doesn't need "Save Draft" enabled by default — it's a footer option an author turns on for that form.
- Each form on the Create page shows a draft count (e.g. "3 drafts") next to it, so you can see at a glance how many in-progress submissions are waiting for that form.
2. Drafts created automatically (offline or failed sync)
Separately, if a submission can't complete right away — you're offline, or the sync fails partway through — MergePoint holds it as a draft automatically, without you clicking anything. This is a safety net on top of the explicit Save Draft flow: work is never silently lost to a dropped connection.
3. Where to find and manage drafts
A Drafts banner appears at the top of the Tasks and Workflows pages showing how many auto-queued (offline/failed) drafts are waiting. Click it to open the Drafts page, where you can:
- See every pending submission, most recent first.
- Filter to errors to quickly find the ones that failed to sync.
- Retry a draft to attempt the sync again once you're back online.
- Resume a draft to reopen the form pre-filled with everything already entered.
- Delete a draft you no longer need.
4. Resuming a submission
Whether a draft was saved explicitly or held automatically, resuming reopens the original form with every field you'd already filled in still there — you finish it instead of starting over, and MergePoint treats it as the original submission, not a duplicate.
Best practices
- Turn on "Save Draft" for long or multi-step forms so people aren't forced to finish in one sitting.
- Check the draft count on the Create page to see which forms have unfinished submissions piling up.
- Check the Drafts banner regularly if your team frequently works in low-connectivity environments (field service, on-site inspections).
- Don't manually resubmit from scratch — always resume the existing draft so you don't create a duplicate task.
